From the foundation of our Abbey is 1878, the monks of Subiaco have had a long tradition of serving the needs of the local dioceses.  It began with serving in pastoral assignments to the German speaking immigrants to America.  These included parishes in Texas, Missouri and Arkansas.  The Abbey also undertook mission invitations to the countries of Nigeria and Belize. As time has progressed and the need for German speaking priests has diminished, the Abbey has turned over most of their parishes to the local dioceses.  Today the Abbey continues to serve the Diocese of Little Rock in providing priests for parishes that are primarily close to the monastery.  Our monk priests oversee the care of these eight parishes.
